Hotel and Landscape, Kangaroo Island

Coastal hotel, villas and landscape

A coastal hospitality proposal positioning a hotel, villas and public amenities to maximise sea views while retaining existing trees and the profile of the hill.

Project and approach

The hotel follows a long contour across the hillside, with an irregular pitched roof breaking its horizontal mass into smaller elements. Villas step downhill between existing trees. A main landscape path loops through the site, linked by shortcuts and resting places to coastal bars, cafés and restaurants.

My role

As a freelance architect, I developed the hotel, villa and landscape proposal, organising the buildings and circulation to preserve existing trees and maximise views toward the coast.
